The Audubon Hotel
New Orleans, Louisiana
The Audubon Building is an existing office building located on historic Canal Street. The building was constructed circa 1915 as a mixed use office/ retail building which remained in use until the late 1990's. The current owners planned on doing an adaptive reuse and converting the historic building into a hotel. The design met the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation in order to utilize the Investment Tax Credit. Construction had commenced in March of 2005 and was well underway when Hurricane Katrina struck dealing a blow to the New Orleans hospitality industry. The project has been put on hold while a new hotel concept is explored.
Mrs. Morton serves as first Project Manager and then was promoted to Project Architect. She played an active roll in the design decisions as well as the development and organization of the Contract Documents.
