TPA is currently working with The Sazerac Company to rehabilitate a historic building located at Magazine & Canal St. into The Sazerac House. The facility will house a museum showcasing Sazerac brands, a gift shop, a micro-distillery, event spaces and offices.
The building, which has sat vacant for more than 30 years, dates back to the mid-1800s and contain rich architectural details including wood floors, high ceilings, oversized windows, and ornate support columns. As many of the original design elements as possible will be kept as the building is renovated and historic tax credits will be sought.
The interior of the space will evoke a sense of history and feature a three-story bottle display wall with a monumental stair and details referencing the Sazerac brand. The project’s unique building program and existing building conditions have challenged the TPA team to creatively negotiate design solutions.
