Carousel at City Park

Location:

New Orleans, LA

Project Size:

7,440 SF

Derived from the medieval tradition of jousting, carousels became a popular theme attraction in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The City Park Carousel, dating back to circa 1885, is one of the few remaining carousel buildings in the country and had fallen into severe disrepair before it was acquired by the Friends of City Park.

It was fully restored, with careful attention to the millwork and the copper roof and with the addition of a new complete sprinkler system.
