Located in the Picayune Place Historic District, Cuvee Restaurant is part of the St. James Hotel but is a standalone tenant space operated separately from the hotel. The build out consisted of a complete build out including the restaurant, bar and kitchen.
One of the challenges of the Cuvee renovation was the integration of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems in a historic building with relatively low existing heights. Structural alterations included connecting two buildings by creating a series of brick arches in an existing bearing wall. These openings add visual interest while allowing the connection of the bar and kitchen areas in one building to the dining area in the next. The design emphasizes the historic brick walls of the building and has a geometrically layered ceiling with custom fabricated light fixtures.
