Uncommon Construction is a not for profit organization with the goal of preparing high school students for the professional realm. Through an application and interview process, students from the Greater New Orleans area are able to apply to be an apprentice with Uncommon Construction. Throughout their semester long experience, hired students interact with professionals ranging from real estate agents, marketing advisors, architects and contractors to procure a site, construct a residence and sell it, all while maintaining an income through the program.
Trapolin Peer Architects is proud to be industry partner with Uncommon Construction, and as such for the fall 2020 build TPA will provide a full architectural set for the students to construct their latest residence. Design ideas for the house where discussed with the apprentices during Framing Character Sessions, in which the students join TPA in the office for an afternoon to learn about architectural design going over basic principals such as program adjacency, project phases and environmental impacts.
